Firing the Raku

Cleaning the pieces
Some of the Raku

Our Raku Fun starts with a premade piece of bisqueware for you to decorate with different glazes.
Once the pieces have been glazed, we take them outside to the raku kiln. This is a fairly quick firing of about 40 minutes. They glow red hot as the glaze melts. Soon, they are removed from the kiln and placed in a metal can reduction chamber. After they cool down, you wash off the smoke and you go home with an interesting atmospheric fired vase.
We Raku as interest and weather permits. Please call for your reservation. 314 427 7773
